Leid is a stunning ground breaking album of new songs written in the Scots language that defies categorisation. The music and words are by songwriter and makar William Hershaw with an star-studded backing band that includes Erik Knussen on bass, Ross Fairbairn and David Hershaw from The Paper Sparrows on drums/guitars, saxophonist Becky Verdon, legendary Scottish harmonica player Fraser Spiers and fiddler Jenn Knussen. The musical influences include rock, jazz, folk and much else. The songs visit places where you have never heard Scots used before. William Hershaw and The Leid will be playing across Scotland in 2024.
